Dirty Projectors - Two Doves

Um, wow. What to say. Okay, so: the song is beautiful all on its own, no doubt about that. And you get the Nico/Jackson Browne reference almost immediately. Then after a couple listens you recognize a couple lines from Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands. Then you try and find out what else is being referenced in the track and you find out it’s the damn Song of Songs. And then you’re blown away by the beauty and the juxtaposition and austerity of it all. You still want to know what else this song is about but instead you’ll just post it on your blog. But you’ll probably listen to it about fifteen more times today just to try and get it. Just understand one damn thing about this week.
